Moving Forward

I recently had the thought cross my mind "Why do we as humans, spend so much time looking back and reminicing about the past". We attend High School reunions, college reunions and family reunions. The purpose? To think and talk about past memories and remember the "good ol' days". We constantly talk about the mistakes we've made, what we would have done differently and the things that we wish we had done. The constant barrage of, oh how I wish I had been more assertive to get that promotion, or I wish I had been brave enough to speak my mind, or the most famous "If only I had known then what I know now!" But, if you had known then what you know now, you wouldnt know what you know now!!!

We rarely take the time to really look around us and think about the things that we have, the people we are grateful for and the precious things happening all around us. We as humans are plagued with our mistakes. Why? I dont know, because honestly, mistakes cant be changes and the horror of the 80's will never be rectified because sadly, cameras were around to record it.

We can however, start the trend of looking forward and moving forward without the baggage and ropes holding onto us so tightly, forcing us to constantly look in our rearview mirrors of life. This isnt saying that we shouldnt learn from our mistakes and become wiser with our experiences, because thats what they are for, to teach us; not to hold us back and make us wonder about the things we could have/should have/would have done. Stop wasting your time.
